Organic Farming in Pedasi
Wednesday, 12 October 2011 09:36

Two Colorado natives, Curt Butz and Coley Hudgins, are developing a sustainable organic farm at Rio Oria Estates, located between Pedasí and Playa Venao, Panamá.

Curt has been involved with permaculture land design since 1995. He’s worked on farms in the US, Canada and Australia. He feels the Rio Oria area is a great location for experimenting with a wide range of plant food sources and with the appropriate sustainable stewardship will provide a diverse amount of healthy organic food. He looks forward to enjoying his own cornucopia while swinging in a hammock admiring the beautiful ocean views.

Coley Hudgins is an investor who has lived in Panama for the past 5 years.  He is currently building a home in the Playa Venao area and has a blog called TheResilientFamily focused on all things related to becoming more resilient and self reliant including permaculture and organic gardening techniques.  Coley lives with his wife, three children, one dog and the occasional mouse or bat in the Cocle province of Panama.

Playa Venao Home Construction Begins
Sunday, 10 July 2011 16:59

The first home is under construction at Lomas de Playa Venado.  Ground broke on the two story, two bedroom private villa featuring a pool and terrace that overlook the magnificent views of Playa Venao below.  The owners of the villa, a couple from Australia and South Africa, purchased the real estate due to the proximity to the surf at Playa Venao, the views, the large lots, and the quiet and relaxed atmosphere of the development.  Home construction is expected to be completed by March 2012.  Salzburg Development plans to continue its real estate offerings in the Pedasi and Playa Venao areas of the Azuero Peninsula through Lomas de Playa Venao and Rio Oria Estates as the area garners more and more attention from tourists and those seeking residential and investment opportunities.

High Speed Internet Arrives to Playa Venao
Friday, 17 June 2011 22:39
Super High Speed Internet arrives to Playa Venao, Panamá via a new Fiber Optic Cable.  The service terminates at El Sitio Hotel and Lounge, but will soon be available to all the residents and businesses in the Playa Venado area as well as future residents of Lomas de Playa Venado.   The line arrives just in time for the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games which will take place at Playa Venao from June 25th to July 3rd.  The arrival of the service is expected to have an impact on real estate activity and values in the area.  "One of the first questions potential clients ask when inquiring about our Lomas de Playa Venado project is if high speed internet is available.  Many prospective buyers who visit the area work via the internet and absolutely need the service, it really broadens the market having internet" said Uschi Zimmerman, President of Salzburg Development.

Playa Venao Reforestation
Wednesday, 01 June 2011 00:00
Salzburg Development's annual reforestation efforts resumed in June with the onset of rainy season.  Twenty species of native tropical hardwood and fruit trees were selected to be planted this year across Salzburg's two projects in the Pedasi and Playa Venao vicinity, Lomas de Playa Venado and Rio Oria Estates.   Areas that were clear cut for grazing and teak plantations over the past 50 years are being reforested to create food corridors and extend the reach of the small amount of existing forest in the area.  The trees are also used for erosion protection in the areas of home and road construction on the two projects.  A noticable increase in the amount of wildlife, ranging from the local white tail deer to birds, has occurred in the area over the last 7 years due to reforestation efforts by private land owners, especially in the Playa Venao area.
